Pleasant Grove, UT 84062
Q: When are you available?
A: Hours are by appointment. I typically schedule on the hour and can do most times of the day. For assessments, I block 1.5 hours. Sessions are a standard hour and are most effective on a weekly basis.
Q: What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
A: My fees are subject to change but are competitive with the surrounding market. I do accept some insurances. Call to find out if I accept yours. Always check with your insurance for out-of-network benefit, as well. Finally, DON’T LET MONEY GET IN THE WAY OF GETTING HELP!
Q: Do you specialize?
A: YES! In trauma and addictions. Specializing here covers a surprisingly wide swath of issues.
Q: Who do you work with?
A: Teens to older adults with young mothers/couples being the most frequent clients.
Q: What about your training and experience?
A: I have a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Brigham Young University and a Master of Education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, with an emphasis in community counseling. My experience has been varied, mostly in substance abuse. I also have experience in outpatient psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, residential treatment, and private practice.
Q: You’re located in Utah – what about religion?
A: I do not have a therapeutic orientation with respect to religion. However, I speak fluent “Mormon,” being an active member of the LDS (Latter-day Saint) church myself. For those that want to incorporate spirituality, be it LDS or some other denomination, I am fully open and supportive. And I am certainly understanding of the most important issues pertaining to the LDS faith. But faith is only as much a part of therapy as you want to make it, and I will never impress any value system on you. I will also not remove the BYU rug from my office door. 😉
Q: What made you get into this business?
A: I love getting to know people and helping with their problems! In college, I struggled to see myself doing anything else and being fulfilled. This is my calling!
Q: What makes me such a great client?
A: When you come ready to open and unload, and aren’t afraid to get your therapeutic hands dirty, so to speak. I enjoy getting to know people – hopefully, you feel the same!
